The truth...
Well, it turns out the doll isn't possessed after all. Elizabeth discovered today that the doll says "Mama, mama" when you squeeze it's little plastic hand. It says "Baba, baba" when you squeeze the other. She says it's still creepy though!

Creepy toys!
Anyone who has had kids probably knows that battery-operated toys that make noises sometimes seem to have minds of their own. Well, this little baby doll has taken it to the next level (according to Elizabeth anyway).
This doll makes a couple of different noises. It laughs and it says "I love you." It is pretty sensitive and normally "talks" whenever you touch it. For the last couple of months, it has started talking on its own. As I mentioned above, that isn't all that unusual for toys. But today, out of nowhere, the doll said "Mama, mama!" Yikes!!

Saturday adventures
We had a great Saturday!
This morning we took Hannah and Noah to the Children's Museum. I haven't been in a really long time; it was fun to go back. Elizabeth's parents gave us a membership for Christmas, so it's fun to be able to go for just a couple of hours and feel like we didn't waste our money. We went straight to the Playscape area and the babies loved it. They spent most of the time pushing around these little lawn mowers. After about an hour in Playscape, we went and rode the carousel. I used to love riding things that spun around, but now, even the carousel makes me feel kind of sick. What a wimp! We headed home after spending a couple more minutes walking around. I didn't get to see my favorite part of the museum, which has always been the science area, but I guess it wasn't about me! :) I forgot to take the camera, so no pictures. :(
While the babies took their afternoon nap, we got a lot of stuff done around the house. Elizabeth has been working on painting the bedroom and she was able to finish up the first coat. The color is called Barrel, and it's an Eddie Bauer color. It's a very deep green color that looks really nice with our rustic pine bedroom furniture. I got all of the furniture at Pier One while I was in college.
Elizabeth had asked me to clean up a little bit while she was painting, but there's never "cleaning a little bit" with me. It turned into moving all of the furniture in the family room to vacuum under it, cleaning the leather, and cleaning the kitchen floor. I love deep cleaning!
After the babies got up from their nap, my mom came over to babysit while Elizabeth and I went to order our dining room furniture! We are very excited to finally be getting some. We've looked about everywhere for something we liked, but only found one. I think I've mentioned that one before, it was the one up in Berne that wasn't there when we went back because the store had closed. There is a store not too far from our house called Simply Amish. We ordered a custom table where we were able to specify the size, shape, wood, stain, leg shape, and edge profile. We spent a whole week going through their catalog and deciding exactly what we want. I'm very excited with our choice. Since it will now be custom-made to our order by Amish craftsmen, it will be 8-10 weeks (that's the end of March!) until it arrives. However, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait as this will be heirloom furniture. Don't worry, I'll post pictures once it arrives!
Anyway, that was our Saturday. Everybody bundle up tomorrow; it's going to be COLD!

Nine o'clock church is SO much better!
Obviously blogging was not involved in my New Year's resolutions this year! Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Andrea gets the credit for prompting this one since she mentioned it to Elizabeth in an email.
I don't have any pictures to post yet this year, but it's not because the year started off slow. I returned to work after about two weeks of holiday vacation on January 2nd. The next day I made a trip to Baltimore for work and flew back on Saturday. For both of my flights out to Baltimore (connected in Detroit) I had the worst seats ever. I thought I was doing so good because when I checked in online and noticed they had put me in aisle or center seats, I moved myself to a window seat. Unfortunately, I moved myself to the last row which has the windows covered anyway because the engines are right outside. I couldn't see out any windows at all and I had somebody sitting next to me on both flights. I'm not a very claustrophobic person, and I'm not afraid of flying (I did take flying lessons after all), but they were the worst and scariest flights of my life. All I had to go on were my sensations to try and figure out what was going on with the flight. Anybody that knows anything about flying knows that these sensations are wildly unreliable when you have no frame of reference (such as the ground) -- that's why instrument pilots require so much training. Anyway, on the flight into Detroit we had a really rough approach for landing due to gusty winds. We were flying along in what I thought was a relatively hard right back when all of a sudden the engines cut off and then there was this loud thump. I about had a heart attack thinking about all of the things that could have just happened to the plane when I realized that we had in fact just landed. The reverse thrusters confirmed this fact to me within just a couple of seconds of touching down. That was probably one of the weirdest things I've experienced. I don't know why it felt like we were turning. The only thing I can think of is that it was an optical illusion due to there being two seats on one side of the aisle (my side) and three seats on the other. Anyway, enough about that...
I am still settling into my new job (and also doing several parts of my old job). I have an internal position posted to backfill for myself, but I haven't had anyone apply. The last time we posted a position in our group we interviewed four people. I don't know what the deal is this time. Hopefully we'll find somebody soon, otherwise I think the workload will crush us this year. I have to admit it is a little weird being in charge. Everybody is being really supportive though, we have such a great group!
Our ward switched to nine o'clock church for this year. The first two Sundays have been SOOO much better. The babies are in a much better mood. They sleep a little bit while we are there. They take great naps when we get home. I can't say enough good things about nine o'clock church.
We celebrated my mom's birthday yesterday. We went to Stir Crazy at the Greenwood mall. Despite the name, I wasn't "crazy" about it, not being a big fan of Asian food. It wasn't bad though and it was fun to spend time with my family.
American Idol starts Tuesday! This is where the Hi-def DVR pays off!!
