Greenwood Man Attacked by Angry Goose

Adam Scott, 27, of Greenwood reported being attacked by an angry goose early Sunday evening.

Scott reported that he was atempting to make a home teaching visit to another Greenwood area family that he attends church with. Home teaching is a responsibility of all adult male members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It involves visiting a few other families in the congregation to check up on their well-being and to present a short spiritual message. Home teachers perform their duties in pairs, called companionships.

According to Scott, he and his companion, Bro. Slack, arrived at the scene of the attack at approximately 5 pm. As he was driving down the road to the home, he noticed a pair of geese that he nealy ran over with his car. Relieved that the geese were okay, he turned into the driveway of the home.

As he and Slack got out of the car, the geese could be heard hissing from across the road. Surprisingly, the geese ran across the road and charged at Scott and Slack. Slack, who was walking in front of Scott, was able to make it safely to the porch of the home. Scott, however, was cornered by the hissing goose and took a defensive position.

The goose then lept into the air and flew down on top of Scott, beating him with its wings. Upon being attacked, Scott attempted to run away. After getting a few steps, he lost his footing on the slippery walkway and fell to the ground. Luckily the goose retreated and allowed Scott to quickly get into the house.

Scott reported that he felt relieved to be safely inside the home, but was slightly miffed to find the homeowner with his video camera in hand taping the geese. The homeowner claimed he was not aware the attack was taking place. Scott reported being a little worried that the homeowner was lying and the he would soon see the video on America's Funniest Home Videos.

At the end of their visit, the geese were waiting for them and refused to allow them to leave the house through the front door. Luckily, geese are stupid, and Scott and Slack were able to sneak out through the garage door and run to their car.

Scott reported only minor injuries including a scraped up palm and wrist, and some mild pain in his wrist. The goose, on the other hand, was the victim of Scott's dirty looks and bad wishes.

Boys and Girls

The fun of having boy/girl twins is that we get the best (and worst) of both worlds. Yesterday morning, I was playing with Hannah and Noah. Hannah went over and picked up her little baby doll and lavished it with hugs and kisses. Right at the same time, Noah went over and picked up a matchbox car and started "driving" it around on things while making "vroom, vroom" sounds.

It was the first time I've really noticed the development of gender roles in each of them, especially at the same time. It was a fun daddy moment!

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. Busy and short, but wonderful.

On Friday evening, Elizabeth and I had dinner at The Melting Pot. If you haven't been, I'd highly recommend it, especially for couples looking for a romantic night out. This is the second time that we've been, and both times we were able to sit in a private booth. Again, this time we had the "Big Night Out" which consists of four courses. We started with the Fiesta Cheese fondue. Next came our salads; we each got something different here. For our main course, we had the Fondue Feast cooked Mojo style. For dessert (always the best part), we had the S'mores chocolate. We were there for about two hours and had a great time. For those interested, including tip we spent around $100 (and that's excluding alcohol since we don't drink).

We're famous! Sorta...

As a lot of you know, we had a professional photographer take some portraits for us last fall. At the time, we signed a release for her to use the photos on her website. I just was there and noticed that she has posted a couple.

For anyone who lives in the Indianapolis area, I would highly recommend Townsend if you're looking for a photographer. She did a fantastic job and made the whole process comfortable. She was very low-pressure and very accommodating (think crying babies).

In case you haven't heard, The Office returns with new episodes starting April 10!!

Video attempt

I love all of the tricks that Noah and Hannah are picking up. They've got words and actions and all sorts of stuff. The problem is always getting them to perform on command. I guess I shouldn't treat them like elephants at the circus, but I'm just so proud of them. Can't a daddy be proud?!

Anyway, I haven't tried posting videos for a while, so I thought I'd give it another shot. They are of Hannah and Noah showing how well they know their body parts. Hopefully they aren't so compressed that they look terrible.

Sick, sick, sick and sick

It's been a while. My apologies to our faithful readers! Unfortunately we've all been sick. It started with Hannah, then Noah, then me, and finally Elizabeth. Hannah and Noah are better now, but Elizabeth and I still aren't back to 100% yet. I'm down to just pressure in my head; my ears feel like they are going to burst from the presure. Elizabeth is down to just a runny nose. This started for me a week ago. My boss had it for two weeks, so I'm hoping I don't still have another whole week to go!

When I sat down to write, I thought I had a bunch to write about. However, it has all escaped me. Oh well, if it comes back to me I'll just post again.

I did want to share with you that having kids is already starting to pay off. We've already got Noah trained to help with the chores. Check it out!

Anne of Green Gables

Well, I hope I don't have to give up my man card after this post. I'm starting to sound a little girly lately!

Elizabeth twisted my arm enough to convince me to watch Anne of Green Gables with her. We borrowed the first two movies from Andrea. I finally gave in and we watched both of them. We had to spread it out over a few days since each movie is about three hours long.

I have to admit, I absolutely loved both movies. Anne Shirley really made an impression on me. There are two great lessons I took away from the movie. There were lots of others intertwined, but these are the ones that hit me the hardest. The first is that we should really be happy with what we've got. The second is that there is good in everyone, and we should always try to find it and bring it out.

If you haven't seen the movies I would highly recommend it. We will definitely be buying them and our kids will grow up watching them.

I read the reviews for the third movie on Amazon. They were really, really bad, so we don't plan to watch it. If anyone has seen it an thinks its worth it, let us know!
